Among the Woods
An abandoned forestry building stood here for many years. We decided to bring this place back to life.
Through sensitive renovation, we have transformed the forgotten area into a meeting place for families and friends, nature lovers, so that they can gather strength and set out to discover the beauties of Šumava.
From the moment you walk in the door, you will feel a special hospitality. However, our fragrant coffee and pleasantly and comfortably furnished apartments are only part of our story.
It's normal to be different.
At the heart of everything we do is one simple idea: “It’s normal to be different.” We are the Etincelle group of social enterprises, with a long track record of employing people with disabilities.
We run our own artisan bakery, bistros, and cafés under the Mezi řádky brand, pizzeria Pasta fidli. We also operate our own farm, laundry services, and cleaning teams and we produce dog treats.
We decided to take our work even further - to build a guesthouse and a coffee roastery to provide meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities, helping them lead lives where they contribute to themselves and the community. The same opportunities are offered in all our other operations. And so, our story in the Bohemian Forest began.
Where design smells like coffee
Coffee is at the theme of our entire guesthouse renovation. From the outdoor wooden cladding crafted from charred planks using traditional Japanese techniques, to the carefully designed chair legs in the bistro, the story of coffee is woven into every detail. We’ve thought of even the smallest touches. Classic architectural features have been preserved and enhanced with the warmth and elegance of modern materials.
Each floor and each apartment has its own unique personality. The second floor retains as many original elements as possible: uneven walls, exposed brickwork bleached around the windows – while refined furnishings bring a sense of style and sophistication to the space.
The third floor offers a modern, contemporary feel. Every room has been thoughtfully designed with carefully selected materials and furnishings, creating spaces that are truly one-of-a-kind. Thanks to the high ceilings, all apartments feel bright, airy, and spacious.
On the ground floor, you’ll find our coffee roastery, a spacious lounge with a fireplace and a large terrace for relaxing or socializing with friends and family.
